1970 Cessna 177B Cardinal
PAINT: WHITE OVERALL WITH TWO TONE BLUE AND SILVER TRIM
The aircraft paint [repainted in 2001] covers and protects the airframe very well. The paint has a decent luster over most of the airframe and is not showing any noticeable oxidation. There are some small chips of missing paint – mostly on the nose gear fairing and cowling where the halves join. The cowling also has a number of small spotty filaform corrosion evident at the fasteners. There are also a few scattered small areas at the tail. With some attention to these spots this paint job should provide good appearance and protection for a number of years to come.
The windshield and cabin windows are clear, with minimal light scratches and no hazing.

INTERIOR: DARK TAN SEATS WITH GRAY INSERTS AND MATCHING GRAY SIDE PANELS AND CARPET.
The majority of interior was redone in 2003 and presents itself well. The seats and rear side panels exhibit no tears, loose stitching, or fraying. The side panels on both cabin doors are in poor condition. However, there is a set of new matching Airtex replacement door side panels that come with the plane. [See photo below of the new side panels.] There is some staining on the high contact areas of carpet under the panel and baggage area. The plastic trim is generally quite good throughout the cabin. exhibits a clean and smooth finish with no cracking, with the exception of the plastic trim piece that surrounds the aft window. But here again, a completely new plastic trim piece for the rear window is included with the plane.
I couldn't find any notes of any damage history in the logs or the FAA airworthiness file. The stabilator was replaced in 1974. But it doesn't say why. Could very easily be a hangar rash event since there were no other associated repairs.
