Type-Specific TrainingIt’s said that a truly excellent pilot uses their superior judgment to avoid needing their superior skill. But from time to time we have to ask ourselves: Are our skills really up to date? And does our judgment really consider all that is known about the operation of the the aircraft we fly? There is only one way to answer this question, and that is to measure yourself against a standard of excellence. To be effective the standard must encompass the full range of the capabilities of your aircraft. Lanier Media is pleased to help bring this level of operational training through Guy R. Maher’s type-specific operational training.

Guy has created a program that leverages his years of experience, his personal knowledge and thousands of hours of operating and training in the majority of general aviation aircraft in operation today. One of the benefits of his time in this business is that for the majority of the aircraft his clients operate, he was providing operational, sales, and training services in them when their respective manufacturers were building them new.
A short list of representative aircraft include [but not limited to] the full line of Cessna piston singles and twins; full line of Rockwell Commander 112/114 aircraft, Piper piston singles and twins, as well as Enstrom, Schweizer [Hughes], and Robinson helicopters. In fact, Guy was the first CFI to become qualified by Robinson as an instructor in their R66 Turbine helicopter, shown below. |
Maher has been hired to travel as far as the United Kingdom to provide type-specific aircraft training. The training offered by Lanier Media can follow either a standardized training syllabus specially prepared by Guy, a program geared to your specific requests, or combination of both.
This training may either be conducted on a “one-on-one” basis, combined with an ownership partner, or possibly a multiple member club scenario. Some of the training applications may include:
Guy’s home base for training is the Statesville Regional Airport [KSVH], Statesville, NC. However, he will also travel to the client’s location if desired.

What Customers Are Saying |
"I'm on my 7th consecutive year of the Wings program and never had any instructors impress me to the extent that Guy has! I understand this is only one person’s opinion, but if the FAA hires him to go to Alaska and make a safety training video, I think this also speaks for itself. I would suggest that more of our members try to attend any future training that Guy offers." - Skip DeBarr |
